Alysse just turned 16 and is as sweet as they come. She wanted to have some professional portraits taken to celebrate this fun milestone. Why wait until you’re a high school senior, right? As a dancer, she was up for a styled photo session focusing on her dance. We were so lucky to have access the the Inn at St. John’s in Northville (wink, Laura H) for an amazing dance portrait session. I also recently started using profession makeup for senior pictures and other photo session. If offers only the best look for pictures. Alysse was used to using stage makeup but professional makeup for photography is a bit different. The makeup artist (MUA) we used, Laura Markham, offered airbrush application which is lighter and more subtle for photography versus stage makeup. It brings out your best features and the results are stunning. Don’t you agree??
I love the dance outfits Alysse chose to wear. This session was more formal and beautiful in it’s styling and posing. The blue and gold really compliment her. We were scheduled for an an outdoor photo session, but the fall air turned winter-like very quickly and it’s hard to pose when it’s chilly. The area with the grand black pillars typically is full of event tables. Our luck was that shooting on a Sunday they had just cleared the area. How awesome was this spot with the sunlight pouring through the windows?? A photographers dream.
The holiday season was the perfect time to photograph at the Inn as it was decked out in holiday decor. We took full advantage of this festive atmosphere. From the serene traditional chapel to the great pillared entrance and holiday garlands and trees. Alysse just added that special sparkle to all these spaces. Love it!!
There were so so many amazing images that I just couldn’t post them all. I put them all together in the video below for you to enjoy. Check back as Alysse will be back in front of the camera this spring. We are determined to not let the fall cold damper our outdoor plans and will do a spring outdoor photo session with maybe more of an edge showing her range in dance. I am so grateful to Alysse to let me “play” as shooting such a gorgeous model is nothing I consider work. Enjoy!
